CERVICAL CANCER AWARENESS CAMPAIGN “Prevention. Early Detection. Community Action.”

Cervical cancer awareness is everyone’s responsibility. Raising awareness about cervical cancer should not be the responsibility of health professionals alone. Churches, schools, workplaces, mosques, communities, and individuals all have an important role to play in educating women and families about cervical cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment.

Cancer does not discriminate based on religion, race, or occupation. Women are at risk of cervical cancer, making awareness and preventive action essential in every community.

On 22 August 2026, Cross of Victory Church joined the cervical cancer awareness campaign during its Women Conference 2026. The church invited Tifulumire Health Program to facilitate a health talk focusing on cervical cancer.

The session was facilitated by Tione Chikuta Makwenda, a Tifulumire Health Program Champion, who engaged women and conference participants on key issues surrounding cervical cancer.

The health talk was conducted under the theme:

“Prevention. Early Detection. Community Action.”

The session emphasized the importance of preventing cervical cancer, seeking screening and early detection, and encouraging communities to take an active role in promoting women’s health.

The engagement demonstrated that health education can effectively be integrated into community gatherings such as women’s conferences, church programmes, schools, workplaces, mosques, and other community platforms.

When communities are well informed, lives can be saved. Cervical cancer awareness therefore needs to extend beyond hospitals and health facilities and reach people where they live, worship, work, and learn.

Tifulumire Health Program continues to encourage churches and communities to invite the programme to facilitate cervical cancer awareness sessions and other health education activities.
